Draft Beer Line Cleaning and Draft System Service in Old Town
Old Town straddles North Avenue, and with it two community areas. North of the avenue, the residential Old Town Triangle, formed by North Avenue, Clark Street and the former path of Ogden Avenue, belongs to Lincoln Park; the blocks to the south are part of the Near North Side. Restored rowhouses, cottages and churches give the neighborhood its character, and the Sedgwick Brown Line station serves it.
Wells Street ties the two halves together. It is Old Town's bar and restaurant hub, busiest between North Avenue and Division Street, where dive bars, newer cocktail spots, a craft beer bar, taverns, late-night food and a famous improv comedy theater keep the strip going past midnight. Two annual art fairs bring extra crowds to the neighborhood.
Show crowds arrive in waves, filling bars before curtain and again after the last set, so a system has to recover quickly between rushes. For Old Town accounts that means cleaning on a fixed schedule, a cooler and gas supply set up for the peaks, and regular attention to the faucets, couplers and regulators that wear under heavy use, plus new taps or full installations when a space is redone.
Old Town, on both sides of North Avenue, is part of our Chicago service area. See the Chicago page.

Common questions
Is Old Town part of Lincoln Park or the Near North Side?
Officially, both. The Old Town Triangle north of North Avenue is in the Lincoln Park community area, and the Wells Street blocks south of North Avenue are in the Near North Side. We serve both halves. Our Lincoln Park page.
Why is the cleaning solution circulated through the lines instead of left to soak?
Moving solution does more work. Circulating it keeps the cleaner flowing against the inside walls of the tubing, where buildup clings, which loosens deposits better than a static soak. Afterward the lines are rinsed with clean water and refilled with beer before the taps go back into service. What a line cleaning covers.
