Draft Beer Line Cleaning and Draft System Service in the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is the lakefront end of the Near North Side, generally placed between Oak Street and North Avenue, east of Clark Street. Its nineteenth-century homes along Astor Street recall the mansion era, and the luxury apartment buildings and residential hotels that followed made it one of the city's wealthiest addresses. The Magnificent Mile begins at its southern edge, and the Clark/Division Red Line station sits near its west side.

Evenings center on Rush Street, where restaurant bars, steakhouses and cocktail lounges draw a crowd, and on the louder bars along Division Street a few blocks away. Restaurants in historic hotels and dining rooms in landmark buildings fill out the rest of the neighborhood.

In a room built around wine and cocktails, a few draft lines may move slowly, and slow lines need as much care as busy ones. We clean Gold Coast systems on the state's schedule whatever the volume, set up stout lines and blended gas, service glycol chillers in larger buildings, and replace towers and faucets when a bar is remodeled.

Common questions

Our draft tower sweats and drips onto the bar top. What causes that?

Condensation forms when the inside of the tower runs cold and the room air is warm and humid. A well-insulated tower with its own cooling, from glycol lines or cold air from the cooler, should stay cold without sweating, so a tower that drips often has wet or damaged insulation inside. Fixing it protects the bar top and keeps beer sitting in the tower cold. Glycol and tower cooling.

Should we use a gas blender or premixed cylinders?

It depends on volume and how many blends you need. Premixed cylinders keep things simple for a small system running one blend. A gas blender mixes CO2 and nitrogen on site from separate supplies, can feed more than one blend at a time, such as a standard mix and a nitro mix, and tends to suit busier bars.
